BIOGRAPHIES

 

Head Coach: Tom Mayes

 

Tom has been training in Martial arts since 1990. Training in a variety of systems, styles and combat sports, ranging through striking arts, grappling arts and arts that mix the two together. He has had well over 50 competitive fights, ranging from amateur through to professional, in a variety of formats including kickboxing, grappling and Mixed Martial Arts where he won 2 British Amateur Mixed Martial Arts titles, and remained undefeated after 16 full contact MMA fights. Tom has been teaching Martial arts for nearly 10 years and holds 3 black belts. One in Kickboxing, one in Combat Cross Training (Mixed Martial Arts) and a 2nd Dan in Modern Arts Karate.

 

Fitness is a very important part of Tom’s Martial Arts training and as a fully qualified Fitness Instructor, he incorporates this into his session plans. Tom remains as much a student of the Martial Arts as he does a coach, and he is always on the look out for new ways to improve how and what he trains and teaches.

 

Tom is now a full time Fire-fighter in Reading and coaches Martial Arts in his spare time.

 

 

Assistant Coach: Paul Learoyd

 

Paul has been training in Martial arts for around 7 years, training in mainly Kickboxing and cross training. He holds a blackbelt in combat cross training and is an accomplished coach.

 

Reality Martial Arts is a major interest of Paul’s and he has completed 2 years of public order riot training which he has had to call upon in a number of instances.

 

Paul enjoys fitness training and climbing in his spare time.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Assistant Coach: Daryl Brown

 

Daryl Brown has been training in Martial Arts for 8 years now, starting in Kickboxing and progressing with numerous other systems over time. He began training as a way of building confidence and learning self defence to assist him in his role as a special constable. He has a love of training and martial arts that keeps his interest strong with a will to learn and better himself at all times.

 

Daryl works full time in Project Management and has been a member of the Thames Valley Police Special Constabulary for over 10 years.
